Kawarau Estate’s organic vineyard draws strongly on the essence of the land in making fine wines.
Our award-winning wines achieve exceptional clarity of flavour reflecting nothing but pure Central Otago. Master Winemaker, Dean Shaw, creates Kawarau Estate’s wines in Cromwell from the hand-picked harvest every autumn and the results have been blessed with consistent recognition from industry critics.
We have four main varietals in our plantings. Pinot Noir from which we craft both a Reserve and Estate each harvest, Reserve Chardonnay from one of our oldest plantings, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc from our newer plantings.
Maintaining organic certification for our wines means lower cropping rates, better canopy and more intense flavours and texture for the wine maker to utilise.
